All In
    One of the hardest parts of following Jesus is recognizing our own shortcomings, especially when we are trying so hard to be obedient. So, when we do fail to follow, we tend  to blame others or explain away our choices. There is a subtle shift from our desire to be obedient, to our desire to be perceived as right. It is in this place that pride flourishes and ironically, our soul dies. So, how do we live?

    Jesus said our lives should not consist of the abundance of our possessions, instead He is concerned with how much we can give. He put his money where is mouth is, so to speak, when He endured excruciating pain on a wooden cross to pay for the sins of the world and defeat the power of Satan. And He also praised an old widow for putting her money where her heart was. As she dropped the only money she had in the offering plate, Jesus paid here a high compliment by saying she had given more than all the rich people that dropped in much larger amounts. How is this? She simply put all in that she had.

    In essence, whether she truly knew it or not, she was completely trusting in God to care for her. She literally had nothing else to live on. So with nowhere else to turn, she put away her pride and gave everything to God. Her obedience pleased Him more than she ever could have imagined. We are most like God when we sacrificially give of ourselves.
